Payette Lake is another one of Idaho’s famed outdoor adventure lakes. It offers everything from hunting and fishing to kayaking and, yes, sailing! The town of McCall sits at the southern end of Payette Lake and offers several amenities including shopping, restaurants and bars, and sightseeing. Like most of Idaho, the lake is pristine and a photographer’s heaven. The Hobie family which developed the Hobie Cat had a family compound on the lake and plied the waters for years.
The wind on Payette Lake is surprisingly good for a mountain lake. Combined with the on-shore resources McCall offers, it is a favorite stopping point for any sailor with a Hobie.
