Thank you to Will Nelson for sharing his photos here from the entire event!
Check out the Div. 4 Facebook page for more pictures of clinics and sailing.

Quinault Points Regatta #1 is in the books! Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work in making it happen… Jack (RO), Charlene, Bob, Will, Tim and Andrew for their on the water expertise. All the shore volunteers for registration/ food and trophies.. it’s what makes it all happen.

Day 1 Saturday turned into a Sunny warm Quinault sailing day after a cloudy start… great winds and challenging sailing. 6 races were sailed! Day 2 stayed cloudy with lighter breezes till racing was over, then the sun came out! 3 races were sailed with the last being a ‘long distance’ race up to a mark near the snag and back down to the beach for a finish there at the end of the day…

A group of us now hang out for the week relaxing, sailing, participating in various clinics on Rules, boat handling, rigging.. whatever comes to light..

Quinault clinics week, day 1. A rules seminar presented by Rob Woodbury. Some great discussions so far, to continue…

Quinault clinics week, day 2. We started with a review and further discussion on the rules with Rob. Now we are having a crew talk with Laura Sullivan. Crew positioning, tasks etc on the 16 and 18. Heading to the boats shortly for some dry land training the on the water for more fun! And the sun is out!…

Quinault clinics week, day 3. John Hoag talking about boat setup, effective starts and more, H16 and H18. A presentation on shore at the gazebo and at the beach with demonstrations with a boat…

NW Area Championship Weekend #2
Well, that’s it… another one hits the books…. Quinault is over for another year… and what a great event, a great week it was. 30 boats lined up for the Area Championships weekend with a good mix of H16’s, H17’s and H18 competing on the water.

Saturday started out with the marine layer hanging out a bit longer than usual. We did go out for one race close to shore in light shifty conditions.. then the fleet was sent ashore on a postponement. The weather cleared and warmed up but it was decided to eat first and play later… so supper was set out at 5pm with everyone given about 1 hr to eat.. and what a great feast! Bratwurst, pasta salad, coleslaw and baked beans.. and cookies! Thanks to Laurie and her team for a great meal..

Charley then called everyone back on the water with racing commencing about 1830. 3 races were run in quick succession with everyone hitting the shore about 2030. The raffle was then done with everyone enjoying the give aways from Murray’s Marine, West Coast Sailing, Allen Brothers Marine (UK) and much more! Sunday saw a similar start to the day.. Racing was attempted about 1300 with one race being completed.. A second was started but was abandoned due to lack of wind and ended up with the fleet either paddling back or being towed into shore.

Trophies were handed out with great exuberance and special recognition given to several people for extra ordinary efforts during the past week.

The wind finally came up as we know it (and love it) and several folks went out for one final sail before the sun went down.

Thanks to all who made both regattas and the week of clinics and fun in the middle a great success! It doesn’t happen without YOU!
